Matching Umbrellas, 9 x 12 inches, oil on linen
I've known people who like to wear clothes that "go with" their cars. I wonder if they get excited when they find a parking spot that also match their cars? It made me stop and take a photo.
My plein-air mobile is a black Toyota 4Runner, and it's dirty and messy and has paint smudges on the interior. My clothes definitely match my car.

So do mine. They are both covered in sticky spots from toddler fingers and dirt from his shoes.
Love the painting- I always enjoy seeing regular everyday stuff as beautiful. I like your work.
I just bought a new car ('09 Nissan Versa) and it's bright blue. Coincidentally, I wore a blue shirt the next day and then so did my girlfriend. We had to have looked pretty silly driving around in a new blue car both wearing blue.
Now I feel sort of self conscious about wearing that blue shirt in the car.
But, as you said, most of my stuff too has some paint on it. And unfortunately... it's only a matter of time before that new-car smell turns into turpentine.
(The silver rim on the white car in the foreground looks very metallic!)
Thanks Sara - haha I got toddler marks all over my car too. My favorite is a completely melted and integrated (that is to say, irremovable) red crayon on the inside handle of the door. I guess i'll have to give a discount for that when I sell the car.
I can't remember what a new car smell is like. Don't they have a "new car smell" air freshener of some sort? Mine smells like liquin right now ( I spilled half a bottle a few weeks back...)
